This is by Olaf Arnalds, from Iceland. I think this is quite wonderful. Folky, could have been recorded at any point in pop music time.
This is by Jennifer Lambert, 60s obviously, a really top quality song, love the little pauses in the verses.
Sigur Ros toured the world twice this year: in the summer with full brass and strings, then in the autumn alone. Here's a great full band version of Seaglopur from an Australian festival. At the end it's just Jonsi and the strings, so beautiful.
If you haven't seen them yet, the cheer on the Sigur Ros song at 1:40 is where they walk away from the xylophones and vibes they've been tinkling, strap on their rock instruments and start to belt the song about. Always a great moment. The long ending with the strings was, when I saw them in Westminster this June, truly, truly something else.
ReplyDeleteI like them more than Joy Division actually.
